Concept:

The artistic concept behind The Imaginary Self fundamentally informs the methods chosen for this collaboration. The first series portrays the imaginary self as trapped. I utilise a projected screen, where I play live on a piano to my pre-recorded dancing self in silhouette that appears ‘trapped’ on the screen. This method emphasises the audio-visual dialogue between my playing self and my dancing self, allowing an interplay that merges both forms.
