Poem: Mermaiden

Dive into the ocean deep,
Lured by soothing songs, you seek
To find us on the rocks that weep,
For all the souls we’ve put to sleep.

Fair of face, yet full of woe,
We watch the boats that come and go,
Wondering who we’ll pull below,
To meet the whales from long ago.

We sweetly sing and comb our hair,
We breathe in water and in air,
It’s hard to resist our compelling stare,
One word of wisdom is: beware…
