Poem: A Gondola in the Sky

I’m sailing past the moon,
On a gondola in the sky,
Where dreams and stars go by,
In the indigo of the night.

The whispers of the world,
Do swirl above the sea,
And you’ll come back to me,
On a gondola in the sky.

Serene, dreaming of you and I,
If only my heart would lie,
And let me believe it’s true.

It seems, so lonely above the clouds,
So quiet my heartbeats drown,
Drown out memories of you.

I see your eyes of blue,
Like sapphires shining bright,
Against the black velvet night,
But your drifting out of sight.

I look back at the moon,
And ask for her to pray,
I’ll live another day,
In a gondola on my own.
